Darn Chief1. I figured that you would have had a bonfire up at McGee Springs Saturday night--you know, just so you could have had a little cheery warmth to go along with the 'smores!

no way ta have a fire there, every thing was wet, water was coming out of the ground just about anywhere you stepped, after all the creek crossing this place is where I broke thru the ice & got my feet wet, many times.

You make it sound like Jack London's ss "To build a fire." McGee Springs (#44)must be swampy in summer. Just another reason why I prefer to hang in my HH. At least you got your feet wet where you could change into dry socks. That whole area of Hyatt Ridge/Raven's Fork sounds almost weird. A good candidate for a video "Lost Places of the Great Smokies."
