Call Walasiyi at Neels. That's about thirty miles in. I'll bet they could hook you up with a shuttle and any other suggestions.
If you're hiking north-to-south the Hike Inn close to Fontana does shuttles (or would know of same). Heard they're nice folks. Havens over in Franklin is cool also.
Other than that you could probably get a shuttle to Dicks gap from Clayton.
