30 - 40 Mile trip 9 Months ago
I'm looking for a 30 to 40 mile Hike for 3-4 days in mid March. I hiked in Tennessee and once in Kentucky. I was hoping to find something in the North Georgia area. Hopefully someone has some good suggestions.

I don't know of a one-way trail or a loop that long off the top of my head right now, but you could string together several different trails together in the Cohutta's to make a solid trip that distance.

Here's a pretty good link that will give you a trail listing:

http://www.greatgeorgiaproperties.com/Outdoor-adventures/Hiking-trails-of-the-Cohutta.htm

There is also a good guide book from Tim Homan that will give more than enough info you need.

Cohutta advice: watch the weather forecast b/c there are tons of river crossings on the Conasauga and Jacks river.

You're probably wanting to circle back, but you could start at Blood Mtn. and hike the GA portion of the AT as far as you like and then see if there is a shuttle available back.

Pick,
Welcome to Foottrails.
Depending on where you live I would suggest hiking the Appalachain Trail north or south. I would recommend starting at Amicalola Falls Lodge to Unicoi Gap. 35-40 miles. This is a great hike. Another note, there will be several thru-hikers on the trail heading to Maine in the spring. Tim Homan,a local author has several books about hiking trails
in the Southeast.
If you don't have this book you need to pick it up.
"Hiking Trails of North Georgia by Tim Homan".

Happy Trails,
